This listing is for an EXTREMELY RARE Vintage Benge Chicago Bb trumpet ( 3 Bell ML BORE ) from year 1939 serial #681 one of the earliest serial numbers ever seen. Custom built by E. Benge Chicago Illinois . This instrument fully qualifies for a new / showroom condition ! and is fully 24K GOLD PLATED ( gold plating cost is usually around $1000 and considering everything going up in price now even more ) with NO repairs, dings or dents or any brass patches ! According to records I found online earliest Benge Chicago was found in the beginning of #500 digit numbers and was not in playable condition. History of this instrument is unknown to me, but the way this instrument looks I truly believe that this horn was at someone trumpet collection and that this is a one owner instrument. Why bottom 3rd slide ring ? Well. Benge trumpet like almost every trumpet in USA including Bach Stradivarius, Calicchio were patterned after pre war French Besson trumpets and those often had 3rd bottom slide rings. Also because War World II started they could not get those european trumpets so they choose the greatest european French Besson design and made horns as close in quality they could.  Every Benge Chicago I have seen on ebay had many brass patches all over the bodies, many repairs. Bell engravings were never crisp and were always buffed and those horns were still selling for a top dollar amounts. Legendary trumpeter Lee Morgan was playing early Benge during his years with the great Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers , also Freddie Hubbard was playing Benge Chicago on his early album "Open Sesame". This Benge Chicago here is a TRUE GEM ! You can exactly see and read meter 3/2 on the staff and all notes and note values on the bell. Engravings are in PERFECT SHAPE ! like pictures show. There are NO PATCHES OF ANYKIND ! Excellent valves with original serial numbers stamped on the top. Everything is shown on photos. There are no repairs on bell and I don`t see it anywhere else ! There are NO DINGS NO DENTS ! Compression on valves is perfect and pistons show only minor sctatches no wear. Valves are smooth and fast and all slides are coming out. Again everything is on photos.
