Description
This auction is for a Steinway Grand Player Piano with a Duo-Art player. It was built in 1927. The player mechanism was rebuilt and the case refinished in 1978 by Richard Wallace a Piano Technician of the Piano Technicians Guild. He refinished the entire case except for right around the logo over the keys where you can see the original finish. Everything else is original except for the upholstry on the bench (even the original tacks were used). The bench is included in the auction. The buyer might want to replace a belt in the playing mechanism (it is fine, and works but could be replaced eventually) and will probably want to have the instrument tuned. The player for this piano is not like most others in that it will actually play at different volumes based on how hard the player pressed the keys when recording the scroll. The sound from this piano can fill any room. The player itself has many switches that enables the listener to change tone, tune and speed of the playback. In order for the player to work, the piano must be plugged in. The piano was regularly tuned every six months until about a year ago. Around that same time a string was replaced, as well as the pin to hold it. In addition to the piano this auction is for 130 rolls for the player. Several of these rolls have more than one song on them. For instance, the roll that we happen to have in the piano right now has five songs on it. 60 of these rolls are the QRS brand and 1 is the Pianostyle brand. These are much newer than the piano. 69 of the rolls are Duo-Art and are much older. To our knowledge all of the rolls work. (in addition, we are adding 1 roll that needs to be repaired, which can be done relatively easily) This auction also includes a small cabinet (pictured) that we use to house just under 90 of the rolls and a QRS Tracker Bar and Suction Pump that is used to clean the playing mechanism. If you would like to see the piano before bidding on it please let me know and we will work on a time when you can come visit it. The auction is for Pick-up only, the buyer may arrange transportation of the piano, but it is wholly up to him/her. The piano is located in a living room with large doors and will not be extremely tedious to move. If you do not know what a player piano looks like while playing or can do, here is a (DIFFERENT PIANO) video link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_p9pUnpqhok. I can't be sure if it is the same model piano, but just by eye the mechanism all looks the same as do the levers under the keys. Once again, this is not the piano you are bidding on, just an example of a steinway player piano. Questions are always welcome!
