It was purchased new in 1965 by a Juilliard graduate who, after extensive research, bought what was largely considered to be the finest piano. She lovingly cared for it until her recent passing. This piano is a tropicalized piano, and has a shiny polished black finish with ivory keys. The model number is 220, and the serial number is 95286. The measurements, as given on the original paperwork, are 220 x 151 x 101 cm (7'3" x 4'11.5" x 3'3.5") . An appraiser recently noted it played flawlessly and has an outstanding tone and great power. The keys are all original and in perfect condition. It was recently tuned to A440 concert pitch. The appraiser noted a new one would cost approximately $84,000. It is worth noting that there are a couple of tiny blemishes, as one might expect from a 43-year-old piano. There is a small blemish on the left corner by the keyboard, as well as a couple of vertical cracks in the finish on the far right and far left side of the Grotrian-Steinweg name. The cracks are so fine they're not initially noticeable. However, they can be felt when touched, and in the spirit of honest trade felt it was worth mentioning. I attempted to take photos of the cracks, but they are so tiny they weren't showing up on the photos. This piano is located in San Antonio, Texas. Local pickup would be preferred, but if the buyer wishes to arrange for transportation of this exquisite piano, we are certainly willing to cooperate with any arrangements. We were told by a local piano gallery that Keyboard Carriage in Kentucky is one company who specializes in piano transportation. Their number is 270-737-5797. Additionally, this same local gallery indicated they could pick up the piano and crate it for a fee of $550, and the transportation company could pick it up there. They said a rough estimate would be approximately $1,200 for shipping. We are not recommending this company necessarily as we have no personal knowledge of them, but rather providing the name and number as a service to potential buyers. Certainly, the buyer is welcome to make whatever arrangement he wishes. The small print...
