Description
For Sale: 1971 Fender Stratocaster This is my 1971 Fender Stratocaster, Olympic White. The neck is stamped May 22, 1971. The pots are numbered 13770. The serial number is just a little bit over 308,000. I purchased this guitar in 1991 from a guitar enthusiast. As is often the case with guitars of this era, there are some blemishes, dings, and a few flaked off spots. Most of the dings are not in plain sight. The front looks very nice. Very respectable. Something you should be as proud of as I have been. The frets don't have much visible wear on them. Quite nice, actually. Please Note: This guitar is the harder-to-find 4-bolt, 1-piece maple neck with tremolo version in Olympic White (think Hendrix strat at Woodstock). I am including the case it came with when I got it. It could be the original Fender case. It looks like the cases I've seen in photos, but it no longer has any logos on it. I really have no idea. The case is pretty beat up and has band stickers on it from the early 1990's. Basics 1971 Fender Stratocaster Guitar, Olympic White Neck date is May 22, 1971 Serial number is 308,xxx Pots are numbered 13770 I have owned this guitar since 1991 Thank you for your interest. Asking price is listed but please feel free to make a reasonable offer if you are interested. If you have more questions, then please contact me at: 1971strat@live.com May 22, 1971. That little brown area on the top left is on the surface. You may be able to buff it out. A 308xxx, 4-bolt serial number. From what I've read, it falls into the 1970-1971 range. Please forgive the light blue, boxed-out area in the left photo, but I've been told that it is not smart to publish your serial number. It is less than 308100. This looks nice from up front. Tone/volume knobs in next pic. Two tone knobs and one steel knob. The steel knob is a Telecaster type knob. It could be ripped from a relic Telecaster or it could have been bought anytime prior to me owning it in 1991 -- so it is between 17 and 37 years old. Close up shot with a tiny chip. The next two pics show some small dings and flakes. I know nothing about the leather strap piece that came with it, so it is between 17 and 37 years old. A look inside. Some little dings and flakes. They are nicely hidden from view on the bottom of the guitar. (next 2 pics) This is why there is Telecaster type knob for this pot (the knob has a tiny screw to secure it). It functions fine, but it's a half-circle and not a full piece. The pots are numbered 13770 which, from what I've read, dates them to 1970. I'm sure some of the scuffs and marks can be cleaned and buffed out. I'm not going to be the one to do it, though, for fear of messing it up. Little flaked spot on the back. I removed the white back cover plate for this next picture. The plate I removed is in great condition, but I apparently neglected to take any photos of the guitar with it on. If for some reason you need to see a photo of it on, let me know. Very close up shot of a tiny ding. Neck screw area. A negligible chip. Pics of the Case. It is banged up but still does it's job. Band stickers include: Moe. (NY), Moon Boot Lover (NY), Yep (NY), Water Street Blues Band (NY), Steak (CO) The leather strap that attaches to the lid from the body of the case is broken. A Moon Boot Lover sticker from the early 90's. Peter Prince from Moon Boot Lover actually played this a little bit one night on stage. Come to think of it, Al from Moe. played it a little bit one night as well. Ripped up end. Thank you for your interest.
